How long is the flight from Karachi to Jeddah?
A direct flight takes between about 4 hours and 4 hours 50 minutes, depending on the airline and the winds. Jeddah is 2 hours behind Pakistan. So a flight that leaves Karachi at 9 am lands in Jeddah around 11:30 am local time.
One-stop flights through Dubai, Doha, Muscat or Bahrain usually take 7 hours or more with the wait. Only pick one if direct seats are sold out or much more expensive.
Flying out of Karachi airport
All Jeddah flights leave from Jinnah International Airport (KHI). Domestic and international flights use the same main terminal, so give yourself time for the crowds.
- Reach the airport 3 hours before departure. Many Jeddah flights leave late at night or early morning, when Umrah groups check in together.
- Check-in closes about 1 hour before departure on most airlines. Late passengers can be offloaded.
- Keep your passport, visa printout and ticket in your hand, not in your bag.
- Going for Umrah? Change into Ihram at home or at the airport before you board.
Landing at Jeddah airport
You arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Saudia flights use Terminal 1. Other airlines can use a different terminal, so check your ticket before you book a pickup.
To reach Makkah, you can take the Haramain high-speed train, a taxi, or the transport your Umrah operator booked in Nusuk. Check your Nusuk booking first so you do not pay for transport twice.
Baggage on Karachi to Jeddah flights
Baggage depends on the airline and the fare, not the route. This matters more from Karachi, because three of the seven direct airlines are low-cost. Their cheapest fares often include hand baggage only, usually 7 kg.
Before you pay, check two things on the fare details:
- The checked bag weight, and whether it is one piece or a total weight
- The baggage on the return leg, since most travellers come home heavier
Zamzam on the flight home
If you travel on an Umrah or Hajj visa, you can bring home one sealed 5-litre bottle of Zamzam.
- Buy the official bottle at Jeddah or Madinah airport
- Do not pack it inside your suitcase or carry it in the cabin
- Saudia and PIA carry it free on top of your allowance. Low-cost airlines may count it, so ask before you fly
